Man charged with firing gun repeatedly on Dabney Street in Roxbury

Boston Police report two officers patrolling in their cruiser near Warren Gardens heard "several loud bangs," then spotted a man on Dabney Street holding an item in the air with smoke coming from the end, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Police say that by the time the officers sped over, the man had run away, but:

Officers broadcasted a description of the suspect who then entered an idling motor vehicle, and fled the scene. Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of 15 Guild Street, and immediately placed the two occupants into handcuffs.

With the assistance of a Boston Police K9, officers located a firearm from the flight path of the suspect. The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus PTIII Pro with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.

Leon Edmonds, 26, of Roxbury, was charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say.

Innocent, etc.
